About
A robot at the Ardh Kumbh Mela

I am a doctoral candidate in the Department of History at the University of California, Berkeley, studying modern South Asia. I’m particularly interested in urban and regional histories and in histories of language and literature, especially Urdu and Hindi. My dissertation examines Patna, a city in the north Indian region of Bihar, showing how it retained its vitality even as it was increasingly seen as a part of the “mofussil,” or provinces.
