About
A robot at the Ardh Kumbh Mela

I am a historian of modern South Asia. My work focuses on urban and regional history and on histories of language and literature, especially Urdu and Hindi. My dissertation (Department of History, University of California, Berkeley, 2015) examined Patna, a city in the north Indian region of Bihar, and showed how it retained its vitality even as it was increasingly seen as a part of the “mofussil,” or provinces. Currently, I am a Visiting Lecturer in the Department of History at the University of California, Berkeley.
