About
A robot at the Ardh Kumbh Mela

I am a doctoral candidate in the Department of History at the University of California, Berkeley, studying modern South Asia. I am particularly interested in urban and regional histories and in histories of language and literature, especially Urdu and Hindi. My dissertation examines Patna, a city in the north Indian region of Bihar, showing how it retained its vitality even as it was increasingly seen as a part of the “mofussil,” or provinces.
